Find a list of some acronyms and abbreviations commonly used within the BLEND platform to help you out. Links for the "definition" of the abbreviations are available for those included in our HelpCenter.
BO – Back office department – our magicians that count words, help with OCR, and any workbench-related issues.
CAT tools – computer-aided translation software. We use XTM, SmartCat, Memsoure, and Crowdin as CAT tools providers aka workbench.
CoA – Certificate of Accuracy - the translation or proofreading you provide is certified by BLEND. Tip: If a client asks you for a CoA, contact us or guide them to this article. The exception is a Certificate translation project, where you'll have a template to fill.
DB – Discussion Board – it's the fasted way to inform a client about any project/content-related issues. We ask you to contact the client directly if you need a deadline extension, a reference file or if you want to verify the meaning of words.
DDL – deadline.
DTP – Desktop publishing service.
EOD/EOM - end of the day/month.
EST – estimated starting time.
ETA – estimated arrival time.
GT – Google translate. Note that using GT is forbidden and will be considered as a violation of our policy.
KYC - know your customer project.
LL – Language leader.
LP – language pair.
MPTE – machine translation post-editing.
MT – machine translation.
OCR – optical character recognition - conversion of images of typed, handwritten, or printed text into editable text, whether from a scanned document, image, or a photo of a document.
PB – Performance board.
PM - project manager - a person responsible for projects of a specific client (VIP or Enterpise).
PN/PB - project note/brief - a note on the project page where a client mentions their special request for a project, such as a deadline, tone of voice, target words, etc. We strongly advise you to check the project note before starting the project.
PP - project page.
QA – quality assurance.
QI – quality investigation. QI can be initiated after a client's complaint or as a part of our internal quality check.
RR – Response rate parameter.
TBT – Translators-BLEND talk board.
TM – translation memory.
WB - workbench.
WC – word count.
WLP – wrong language pair.
WWC – wrong word count.
